Psychogenic Lack of Appetite: A Common Neurosis in Childhood

The function of receiving and digesting food is easily and often disturbed for psychogenic reasons. Psychogenic lack of appetite is especially common. It is a neurotic disorder most commonly encountered by pediatricians. In children, these neuroses of digestive functions occur:

  • Lack of appetite
  • Psychogenic vomiting
  • Inadvertent release of stool
  • Psychogenic constipation
